LG Joins the eReader Fray!

LG reader“LG has shown off some innovative technology for e-readers like solar power, but hasn’t gotten a device to market yet. According to reports, they will join the e-reader marketplace with a new device due to arrive at the same time as Apple’s iPad.

The new e-reader is set to debut in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) in April. Their CEO for MEA KW Kim didn’t exactly say that the product is an e-reader. He only said that “[the product] will compete with Apple and Amazon.” The only other thing that Amazon makes besides the Kindle seems to be money.”

According to the article, the Kindle’s touch screen technology will be cheaper than the iPad’s!  This is great news for those of us who love the Kindle!

The New Apple iPad

Apple announced the new iPad today…it’s sort of a cross between an iPhone, a Laptop, and an eReader.  The pricing will be around $499, and the iPad is expected to be available in late March.  We’ll post more information as more becomes available.

“Amazon announced Thursday the release of a software development kit for its Kindle e-book reader, which will allow developers to build and eventually sell their own applications for the device.

There are only a few hints as to what we’ll actually be seeing: Electronic Arts is building some games, smaller game publisher Sonic Boom is creating word games and puzzles, and restaurant review company Zagat is releasing city guides. None of these developer-created apps will be available until later in the year, and the software developer kit is currently in limited beta…”
